Nothing CEO Carl Pei has revealed core details about the upcoming Nothing Phone 2a. Allegedly official renders of the device have been shared by OnLeaks and Smartprix.
While OnLeaks is a reliable source, there have been contrasting leaks in recent weeks. Nothing executives have also been active in debunking them online. Additionally, OnePlus co-founder Akis Evangelidis has labeled the renders as “fake.”
The company had previously denied similar leaks, but they turned out to be true. It’s best to approach these leaks with skepticism.
On the positive side, the leaked design matches images of protective Nothing Phone 2a cases. Nothing has also confirmed that the transparent design elements and Glyph LED light interface will be featured, with a fresh twist.
The company seems to have reworked the design of hardware elements visible under the glass shell. The camera island now sits in the center surrounded by a circular ring element, which looks like a wireless charging pad. The flat side rails and clean screen aesthetics remain, embracing uniformly thin bezels on all sides and a circular cutout for the selfie camera.
Leaks suggest that the Nothing Phone 2a will have a 6.7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 12GB RAM, and 256GB of onboard storage. The company has also confirmed the use of MediaTek’s Dimensity 7200 Pro chip, positioning the Nothing Phone 2a as a more affordable iteration of the Nothing Phone 2.
Based on the online chatter about the alleged pricing, it seems the Nothing Phone 2a is Nothing’s strongest contender yet. However, the company only has plans to offer this phone to developers and other partners in the U.S., instead of a broad market release.
Meanwhile, the possibility of the Nothing Phone 2a receiving an all-white treatment is worth considering.
