Team Liquid Gets Redemption by Defeating Gaimin Gladiators
The Dota 2 rivalry between Team Liquid and Gaimin Gladiators went down in history last year, with GG coming out on top in the grand finals against Liquid four times. However, the tables turned as Liquid eliminated the Gladiators from the BetBoom Dacha 2024 in a decisive 2-1 game.
It’s not often we see the likes of Gaimin Gladiators making their way through the lower bracket. In 2023, they knocked out everyone on their road to victory before falling to Team Spirit in The International grand finals. Despite a strong performance in the group stage, they were knocked down by BetBoom Team, a notorious thorn in their side.
Team Liquid made a surprising Sniper last pick in game one of the lower bracket quarterfinal series, putting GG on the back foot. Nisha dominated Quinn in the early game, but GG made a comeback in game 2 with Seleri’s Enigma earning a 3x kill streak in the first few minutes.
The decisive game 3 ended with a victory for Liquid, with GG making them work for it. A lineup of Alchemist, TA, and Windranger proved to be too much for the Gladiators. Despite it happening in the lower bracket quarterfinals, Liquid must be elated to finally defeat their nemesis, with only 3 series standing between them and victory.
Next up: DreamLeague Season 22
Liquid’s quest for redemption from the 2023 season won’t be complete until they face the Gladiators in a grand finals. While they didn’t get that opportunity this time, there’s plenty more Dota to come.
DreamLeague Season 22 is set to kick off on February 25th, where Liquid will have another chance to face the Gladiators. However, they will face tough competition from previous TI champions Spirit, Tundra, and OG. But one thing is for certain – the battle continues in the world of Dota 2.
