Apple has released a software update for the Vision Pro headset that debuted just over a week ago, signifying an important development for users.
The update provides a simpler way to reset the device in case the passcode is forgotten, addressing an issue that arose shortly after the $3,499 Vision Pro headset began reaching customers on February 2. Prior to the update, users had to take the device to an Apple retail store for a passcode reset, or if no store was accessible, they had to ship it to AppleCare customer support.
The update, visionOS 1.0.3, eliminates this inconvenience, allowing users to perform a reset quickly at home. The software can be installed by opening the Vision Pro’s settings app and heading to the software update section, according to details shared on Apple’s update pages by MacRumors.
The software update also includes unspecified “important” bug fixes, as mentioned in Apple’s release notes, making it the third update issued for the Vision Pro since its release.
Apple engineers working on the Vision Pro have also mentioned that it is likely to take four generations of the device for it to reach its ideal form, with expected improvements coming to the headset’s size, weight, comfort, software, and usability, among other areas.
