Apple Intelligence, the company’s generative AI offer, will be officially launched to the public four months after its unveiling. The platform is set to be included in the upcoming public versions of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, expected to debut next week. Speculation points to a Monday release for these operating system upgrades.
Early versions of Apple Intelligence have been accessible to developers testing beta versions of the mentioned operating systems. These early features include writing tools, image enhancement capabilities, article summaries, and a new typing input method for Siri.
Apple recently released developer versions of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2, which introduce a range of new Apple Intelligence updates. Some of the additions include Genmoji, Image Playground, Visual Intelligence, Image Wand, and integration with ChatGPT.
Due to hardware limitations, only certain devices will support the generative AI features. Eligible devices include iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, all iPhone 16 models, iPads with an A17 Pro chip (including the new iPad Mini) or M1 chip and newer, and Mac computers with M1 chip or later.
Users will need to manually opt-in to use Apple Intelligence after downloading the software update. Upon opting in, they will be placed on a waitlist for server processing. Most requests are expected to be approved within a few hours, as some queries require off-device processing by Apple’s servers.
