Apple has released the first beta of iOS 18.2, just one day after seeding a release candidate version of the iOS 18.1 build. This latest beta introduces some significant Apple Intelligence features.
One of the key features is ChatGPT integration. When users ask Siri a question that the assistant cannot handle, the request is passed on to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Users are prompted before any questions are sent to ChatGPT, ensuring privacy and security. Siri then presents the answer directly to the user.
For example, if you ask Siri for a recipe that includes tomatoes, cheese, pepper, and eggs, Siri will direct the question to ChatGPT for a response based on its language and reasoning capabilities.
Another major feature is Visual Intelligence, an AI upgrade that allows the device’s camera to identify objects. This feature is especially beneficial for users with visual or hearing challenges.
Image generation, known as Image Playground, is another feature introduced in iOS 18.2. This feature allows users to create custom emojis and refine sketches into images.
The iOS 18.2 update also brings enhancements to the Mail app, including new categories for important emails and transactions.
Digital Trends is currently testing these features and will soon provide a detailed analysis, comparing them with Google’s Gemini AI tools.
