Developers are now experiencing the integration of Apple Intelligence’s ChatGPT in the latest updates of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 released on Wednesday. This integration comes with a range of other Apple Intelligence features such as Genmoji, Image Playground, Visual Intelligence, and Image Wand.
The general public will soon have access to Apple Intelligence features like integrated writing tools, image editing, article summaries, and a typing input for the revamped Siri experience through the releases of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and 15.1. However, access to OpenAI’s platform will be made available in future updates.
Users can choose to enable Apple Intelligence and ChatGPT individually during the initial setup or later in the settings. Having a premium account will provide greater access to queries, but all users will have access to OpenAI’s models, including GPT-4, without the need for a separate ChatGPT account or app.
The main functions of the service include enhancing Siri’s knowledge base and generating text within Writing Tools. Users may be prompted by Siri to allow access to ChatGPT for certain questions like recipes or travel planning. Additionally, users can directly ask Siri to interact with ChatGPT.
Another key feature of ChatGPT available through Apple Intelligence is Compose, which allows users to create content based on a prompt in any app supporting Writing Tools. This feature supplements existing writing tools like Style and Summary.
Moreover, users will have access to OpenAI’s image generation through Apple Intelligence, along with the new Image Playground feature for generating images in different styles. Genmoji also enhances the Messages app by providing emoji suggestions.
