Playing Stardew Valley alone is fulfilling, but managing a farm all by yourself can be challenging. Thankfully, starting a farm in multiplayer co-op mode with friends is an option. With the recent 1.6 update bringing new features, it’s a great time to begin your farming adventure together.
However, setting up multiplayer may not be as simple as expected, especially depending on the platforms your friends have or if you want to play through couch co-op instead of online. Running a co-op farm in Stardew Valley can be quite different from playing solo.
Cross-platform console limitations
While multiplayer is available for PC and console players, mobile users do not have access to it. Additionally, Stardew Valley does not support cross-platform play, meaning you can only play online together if you own the game on the same system.
Players on PC must play with other PC players, and the same goes for PlayStation and Xbox users. All players must be on the same update version, and once consoles receive the 1.6 update, they can play online with the latest game version.
