Tetris, the legendary game, is set to receive a new lease on life with Tetris Forever, a comprehensive collection from Digital Eclipse and Atari that brings together multiple variations of the classic game. It now has an official release date.
Tetris Forever is scheduled to launch on November 12 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG. The collection will include 15 games from throughout the franchise’s 40-year history. While pricing details are yet to be revealed, interested gamers can already wishlist the game on PC.
A recent video previewed the 15 games that will be part of the collection, featuring classics like the original Tetris for the Electronika 60 computer, the multiplayer Tetris Battle Gaiden, the bomb-filled Super Tetris 2 + Bombliss, and quirky titles like Hatris (a Tetris variant with hat stacking). Additionally, a new addition called Tetris Time Warp will allow four players to warp between different eras as they play. The exciting collection can be viewed in the video below.
Developer Digital Eclipse, known for its remastered editions, has gone beyond a simple game port with Tetris Forever. It serves as an interactive museum, offering 90 minutes of documentary video content, virtual archived materials, ads, and other historical artifacts. This approach mirrors its previous projects like 2022’s Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration and 2023’s The Making of Karateka. Last year, Atari acquired Digital Eclipse for $20 million and has also collaborated on a new game, Volgarr the Viking 2, a sequel to the popular 2013 retro 2D platformer.
