It seems like Cloud9 is in the process of parting ways with its entire Dota 2 roster. Over the past few days, the organization has been bidding farewell to its players with heartfelt messages.
The recent announcements began on October 12 when Cloud9 said goodbye to Volodymyr “No[o]ne-” Minenko in a social media post. In the post, C9 expressed gratitude to No[o]ne, acknowledging his immense talent and dedication that he shared with the world.
Today, on October 14, Cloud9 continued this trend by thanking and bidding farewell to Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin. The organization praised DM for being an exceptional player and an even better person, expressing pride in having him as a teammate.
These departures follow Vladislav “Kataomi” Semenov’s move to BetBoom last month and Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov’s transition to Gaimin Gladiators in October.
It appears that the only remaining player, Dzmitry “Fishman” Palishchuk, will also be leaving the team soon or possibly forming the core of a new organization.
The future of Cloud9 in Dota 2 remains uncertain. Despite a top 6 finish at The International 2024, the organization has a history of fluctuating involvement in the game. This latest iteration of Cloud9 may follow a pattern of post-TI roster changes that dates back almost a decade.
Having first entered the scene in 2014, Cloud9 has gone through multiple roster changes before exiting in 2015. Their return in 2017 for TI7 with the Danish Bears squad was short-lived, and a 2020 comeback was cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic, resulting in disbandment after four months.
