Eyes up, Guardians — a new entry in the Destiny universe has just been announced. Destiny: Rising is a new mobile spinoff for iOS and Android developed by NetEase Games set in an alternate timeline and is scheduled to enter its first closed alpha test this November.
The Destiny franchise has evolved since its debut in 2014, but now expands to mobile with Destiny: Rising, a free-to-play RPG. Set in the post-Dark Age era before Destiny, players will join the new cast of Lightbearers as they fight against oppressors alongside the Iron Lords.
Destiny: Rising offers PvE and PvP content, including a campaign, co-op strikes, raid-like gauntlets, and a new PvP mode called Shifting Gates. Players can switch between first and third-person views and are encouraged to use Bluetooth controllers for an optimal gaming experience.
In a press release, both Bungie and NetEase Games express their excitement about expanding the Destiny lore through a mobile game. NetEase’s Ethan Wang and Bungie’s Terry Redfield are thrilled about bringing this new experience to the global fanbase.
Destiny: Rising will start its closed alpha test on November 1, offering a sneak peek at the game’s campaign and various game modes to preregistered players selected randomly.
