Amazon has introduced its new AI-powered “Shopping Guide” feature to assist online shoppers with information on more than 100 types of products, ranging from dog food to TVs. The AI Shopping Guides are now available on the U.S.-based iOS and Android apps, as well as the Amazon.com website. They aim to streamline the research process by highlighting key details and essential information alongside product listings tailored to individual needs.
Utilizing large language models, specifically Amazon’s Bedrock, the AI system brings forth user reviews, useful attributes, use cases, features, brands, and key terminologies across various product categories. It can also stay updated with changing trends and new product releases.
To access the shopping guides, users can search for a covered product, and the guide option will appear in the search autocomplete suggestions if available. Additionally, the guides can be accessed through the “Keep Shopping For” card on Amazon’s homepage. The company plans to expand the feature to cover more product types in the future, although a specific timeline has not been provided yet. There is also no information on potential expansion to languages other than English.
AI shopping guides are just one facet of Amazon’s AI-driven endeavors. The company introduced Rufus, its AI shopping assistant, in February, followed by Maestro, its AI playlist generator, in April. In May, Amazon incorporated AI search results into its Fire TV interface.
