Amazon has unveiled its latest AI feature, AI shopping guides, designed to assist consumers in making informed purchase decisions across a wide array of product categories on Amazon.com. These guides, set to launch on Thursday, will provide essential information that consumers typically research before buying, along with a curated list of reputable brands in each category.
The primary goal of this new feature is to streamline the decision-making process for customers, ultimately making shopping and buying more convenient and efficient.
According to an announcement by the company, the AI shopping guides cover a wide range of products, from large purchases like electronics and home appliances to everyday items such as pet supplies, beauty products, and more. The guides will help users navigate through various product options that align with their preferences, alleviating the overwhelm caused by the extensive product selection on Amazon.
Each guide will offer customers detailed insights and educational content about the product category, including reviews, use cases, key features, brand recommendations, and terminology definitions.
Furthermore, users will have access to Rufus, Amazon’s AI shopping assistant and chatbot, directly from the guides.
Amazon leverages generative AI technology to power the AI shopping guides, ensuring scalability and relevance across various product categories. This technology, developed using Amazon Bedrock, continuously updates the guides to reflect the latest information.
Initially available on the Amazon Shopping app for iOS, Android, and mobile web in the U.S., the AI shopping guides will be accessible from search autocomplete suggestions and the homepage “Keep Shopping For” card, tailored to recent browsing activity.
Consumers can also visit Amazon.com/AIShoppingGuides to explore popular guides directly.
Amazon plans to expand the AI shopping guides beyond the initial 100 product types in the coming weeks and months, with potential multi-language support in the future.
These AI shopping guides join a suite of AI-powered features offered by Amazon, including Rufus the chatbot, enhanced review highlights, clothing fit finder, visual search tools, and AI-generated product information.
