While I typically focus on existing products, a couple of rumored Sonos projects have caught my attention. It’s worth noting that this is speculation on my part, but given Sonos’ recent statements about upcoming products, it seems plausible.
First, let’s talk about the Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar. Recent leaks, including a post on X and a Best Buy listing that leads to a dead end, suggest that a product is ready for launch but delayed. The leaked specs on Reddit reveal standard features like tweeters, woofers, Trueplay, and Dolby standards, but the inclusion of 16GB of RAM and 8GB of NV memory indicates a significant upgrade. This, coupled with a marketing image showing a Sonos play screen, hints at a potential Sonos TV integration. Notably absent from the specs is a remote control.
As for Sonos TV, it seems to be an embedded operating system similar to Roku’s soundbars, possibly running on an Android fork. This suggests a shift away from traditional set-top box designs. When discussing this with Sonos executive Eddie Lazarus, he seemed unaware of a “set-top box” but did not confirm or deny the Sonos Arc Ultra.
