Apple recently launched macOS 15, also known as Sequoia, but this new operating system caused compatibility issues for cybersecurity products from CrowdStrike and Microsoft. The good news is that Apple quickly addressed these problems with the release of macOS 15.0.1, which claims to have fixed the issues with third-party security software.
In an email to TechCrunch, Apple announced the update and highlighted the improvements in compatibility with security software. Patrick Wardle, a security expert and founder of macOS and iOS security startup DoubleYou, confirmed that macOS 15.0.1 fixed the networking issues that plagued the initial macOS 15 release.
Wardle criticized Apple apologists who blamed third-party vendors for the issues, noting that the bug was an Apple issue that was reported before the golden master release of macOS 15.
Initially, cybersecurity professionals had difficulties using security tools like CrowdStrike’s Falcon and Microsoft Defender on macOS 15 due to the operating system bug. CrowdStrike was waiting for a macOS Sequoia update to provide official support for their products on Apple’s platform.
Developer Ugur Koc confirmed that the new macOS update resolved issues with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and other antivirus software, particularly with the network filter causing internet connectivity problems.
Despite the improvements, neither CrowdStrike nor Microsoft have commented on the recent macOS update.
