As the release of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered approaches, the original Complete Edition is becoming increasingly difficult to purchase. It is now being delisted from digital PC storefronts.
Recently, it was removed from the Epic Games Store, as reported by some ResetEra users. While the store page is still accessible, the buy button is grayed out with an “unavailable” message. Additionally, there is no direct link to purchase the remaster from this page, although it can be found through search and preordered ahead of the October 31 release date.
Upon checking Steam and GOG following the ResetEra thread, the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition was still available for purchase. However, on Thursday, it seems that the standalone Complete Edition is no longer available on Steam. Users can only prepurchase the Remastered bundle, which includes a copy of the Complete Edition along with the Remastered upgrade for $50. While the Remastered is still available for individual purchase, the bundle with the $10 add-on is the only way to access the Complete Edition on the platform.
Currently, the game is still available on GOG for $50 and is DRM-free. Third-party sites like CDKeys also offer codes for purchase.
This appears to be part of PlayStation’s strategy to encourage players to opt for the Remastered edition of the game. Even console players have noticed that the price of the original game on the PlayStation Store has doubled, a move likely intended to steer players towards the new version.
The remaster primarily offers visual and performance enhancements, as well as updates tailored for the PlayStation 5. Guerilla Games and support studio Nixes have also added around 10 hours of new content and mocap.
