Palworld is set to expand its reach globally through a new partnership with Krafton, the publisher of PUBG: Battlegrounds, aiming to bring the popular survival game to mobile platforms.
Krafton recently announced the collaboration, revealing its plans to adapt the game for mobile platforms rather than just port it. This reimagining will be carried out through a licensing agreement, with development overseen by PUBG Studios, a subsidiary of Krafton responsible for PUBG: Battlegrounds.
While details of the partnership are scarce at the moment, Palworld developer, Pocketpair, has yet to issue a public statement regarding the agreement.
This announcement follows a busy period for Pocketpair, which saw the PlayStation 5 launch of Palworld
Originally dubbed as “Pokémon with guns,” Palworld introduces a unique gameplay concept where players capture wild creatures, known as “Pals,” to assist in base-building, crafting, and farming. The game also offers multiplayer features not commonly found in mainstream Pokémon titles.
Since its early access release on Steam and Xbox Series X/S in January, Palworld has gained rapid popularity, selling one million copies within eight hours. Pocketpair has also secured partnerships to expand the brand, including deals with Sony Music Entertainment for merchandise and a potential anime adaptation through Aniplex U.S., a subsidiary of Sony Music.
In a bid to further establish its presence in the gaming industry, Krafton recently acquired Tango Gameworks, the developer behind Hi-Fi Rush, following Microsoft’s shutdown of the studio.
