Motorola is making strides to catch up with companies like Samsung and Google in terms of the length of Android updates it provides for its smartphones. The latest Motorola phone is set to receive five years of updates, marking the second Motorola device to offer this in recent months.
The newly unveiled Motorola Moto G75 will come with five Android OS upgrades and six years of security patches. This means users will likely be able to update the phone to Android 19, considering the Moto G75 ships with Android 14. Last month, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo was also announced to include five years of OS upgrades and security patches.
While not matching the seven-year promises of Samsung and Google, having five years of updates signifies a significant improvement for Motorola.
Motorola affirms this update commitment on the Moto G75 product page: “Keep up with the latest version of Android by getting five OS upgrades — and six years of security updates — guaranteed through 2029.”
The Motorola Moto G75 is a midrange smartphone offering impressive features at its price point. It includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, a 6.78-inch Full HD+ LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate, and support for expandable storage up to 1TB via a microSD card.
Additionally, the phone features a 50-megapixel main primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and Quad Pixel technology, along with a 5,000mAh battery supporting 30-watt TurboPower wired and 15W wireless charging.
Available in Charcoal Gray, Aqua Blue, and Succulent Green, the phone offers different finishes for each color option, adding to its overall appeal.
While the Moto G75 seems like a solid budget option, the highlight is its updated policy. Motorola has historically struggled with updates, and while it’s yet to be seen if the company follows through on this promise, it’s a positive step forward.
Pricing and availability details for the Moto G75 have not been announced by Motorola yet.
