Ubisoft has announced a delay in the release of the next game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The game, set in feudal Japan with two playable protagonists, has been postponed from November 15, 2024, to February 14, 2025, to allow for further polishing and refining of the gaming experience.
In a statement published on X (formerly Twitter), franchise executive producer Marc-Alexis Côté explained the decision, citing the company’s commitment to delivering a high-quality game to players eagerly anticipating an Assassin’s Creed title inspired by feudal Japan.

Ubisoft also announced the removal of the season pass model for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, allowing all players access to the game on February 14 without needing to make additional purchases. Additionally, both Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Star Wars Outlaws will be available on Steam for PC players, eliminating the need to use the Ubisoft launcher exclusively.
The delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows comes after the lower-than-expected performance of Star Wars Outlaws, prompting Ubisoft to make adjustments for a more successful launch. CEO Yves Guillemot announced plans for a comprehensive review to enhance the overall player experience and execution of future releases.
Stay tuned for further updates from Ubisoft as they continue to refine their gaming offerings and respond to player feedback. The company remains committed to providing engaging and immersive gaming experiences for its audience.
