PlayStation recently announced the upcoming release of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered for PlayStation 5 and PC during its September State of Play event. The remastered version will be available starting October 31.
While there haven’t been major changes to the gameplay, the game has received a significant visual upgrade to align it with the standards set by its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West. This includes revamped character models, textures, assets, and cameras.
In addition, Guerrilla and Nixes, who assisted with the remaster, have added 10 hours of new mocap conversations. The game will also feature 3D audio support and DualSense adaptive triggers for enhanced gameplay on the PS5.
For players who already own the original Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4, the remastered version will be available at a discounted price of $10.
Originally released in 2017 exclusively for PS4, Horizon Zero Dawn follows the journey of Aloy in a post-apocalyptic America where she must confront hostile machines. Players help Aloy uncover the secrets of the lost civilization as she traverses the open world.
Sony has expanded the Horizon series with releases on PC and spinoffs like Lego Horizon Adventures. The remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn was leaked through an ESRB listing, confirming its imminent release on PS5 and PC.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is part of Sony’s strategy to bring its console exclusives to PC, following titles like God of War Ragnarok. With enhanced graphics and gameplay improvements, the remastered version offers a fresh experience for both new and returning players.
