Despite the technical advancements of the PlayStation 5 over the PS4, one disappointing change is the removal of folders. Folders allowed users to create custom sections on the home screen for organizing games in their preferred way.
However, with a recent firmware update, the PS5 now offers Gamelists as an alternative. While not as versatile as folders, Gamelists can still help you organize your best PS5 games for easier browsing.
Creating folders on the PS5 allows for easy categorization of games. We recommend creating collections for genres like best multiplayer games on PS5 or best fighting games on PS5.
How to make folders on PS5
To create folders on your PS5, follow these steps after ensuring you have the latest firmware update:
Step 1: Sign in to your home screen and navigate to your Game Library.
Step 2: Select Your Collection to view all your owned titles.
Step 3: Either select the Create Gamelist icon on the left, or choose a game, press Options > Add to Gamelist > Create Gamelist.
Step 4: Select all the games you want to add to the specific folder.
Step 5: Hit Add to create the new folder after selecting your games.
Step 6: Name the folder and it will be added to the Your Collection tab.
Although Gamelists have limitations compared to PS4 folders, like not being able to be placed on the home screen, they still offer a way to organize your games within the Game Library.
