The release of the Rodecaster Pro in 2018 was a hit in the podcasting world, and now Rode is expanding its user-friendly line to include the Rodecaster Video, tapping into the growing video market.
With a price tag of $1,119, the Rodecaster Video faces tough competition in the video production market, but Rode is aiming to attract beginners looking to enhance their video production without committing to a full professional setup.
Unlike the Pro, which focuses solely on audio podcasts, the Video caters to a wider audience, from solo streamers to multi-person studio productions. It is more compact and designed to be used in front of a computer for versatile use.
Incorporating Neutrik jacks and pre-amps for XLR mics along with multiple HDMI and USB-C inputs, the Rodecaster Video allows real-time switching between video sources. It offers audio processing features like EQ, compressor, high-pass filter, de-esser, and noise gate.
The device supports green and blue screen removal, audio switching between sources, and streaming to various platforms via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB connections. It also has the capability to record directly onto an external hard drive.
Rode CEO Damien Wilson emphasizes the company’s commitment to providing professional yet accessible audio and now video equipment. The Rodecaster Video aims to revolutionize video production for creators of all levels, just as the Rodecaster Pro did for audio.
Preorders for the Rodecaster Video are now open, with shipments starting on October 10.
