The recent leak surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 has generated a lot of curiosity about its authenticity. Tech experts are close to confirming that the leaked information is indeed real.
In an article and video series on Digital Foundry, editor Richard Leadbetter mentioned that after analyzing information from Famiboards forums, it appears that the renders and images leaked are accurate as of October 2023.
Leadbetter stated, “The eight-inch LCD, the larger form factor, and the new Joy-Cons connecting via magnetic rails are likely true at this point.” The team pointed to Taiwanese shipping manifests posted on Famiboards to support the leak’s validity.
The leak had two main components. The first involved photos of a shell model that the original poster obtained, deemed highly reliable by Famiboards. Looking at the motherboard, it seems to confirm components like the 12 GB of RAM from other leaks.
The second aspect included CAD drawings showcasing the external hardware, such as the redesigned Joy-Cons and two USB-C ports. While some details align with other leaks, there is still room for skepticism, as Leadbetter cautioned in an interview with IGN.

Digital Foundry also mentioned a video by Chinese YouTuber Xiao Ning Zi, who 3D printed a Switch 2 based on the leaked drawings, which aligns with other specs like the larger screen size.
The leak was reported by Video Games Chronicle, with a source confirming its accuracy, revealing additional details like 256GB storage and an 8nm T239 SoC.
While Nintendo has not officially announced the Switch 2, speculation suggests it may be revealed during the fiscal year, with details still unknown about its official name and features.
