Even though the off-season transfer window has not officially opened yet, LEC team GIANTX is already taking steps to build their 2025 lineup.
GIANTX is actively conducting tryouts
According to a report by Sheep Esports, support player Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun and Head Coach Christophe “Kaas” van Oudheusden will be leaving GIANTX. This decision follows a less than satisfactory performance by the team in the previous year, where they consistently landed in the lower half of the standings.
Despite having experienced players like Odoamne, Patrik, and former world champion jungler Juhan, GIANTX could not secure a position higher than sixth place throughout the season.
The LEC organization is now focused on rebuilding their roster, with tryouts already in progress ahead of Worlds 2024.
Who will be the new head coach?
Kaas became part of GIANTX before the merger between Excel and GIANTS in late 2023. Having previously worked with MAD Lions, the Belgian coach will be departing the team. As the new season approaches, GIANTX is now in search of a new Head Coach, with Nico Perez remaining as the assistant coach.
As for the roster lineup, it is uncertain who will fill IgNar’s position. In addition, Juhan’s contract expires at the end of the year, potentially leading to changes in the jungler position. While Jackies has a contract until 2026 and Patrik has one more year left, the team will need to find a new top laner since both Odoamne and Th3Antonio, who played during the season, have left the organization.
With the transfer window opening in November, more changes to the roster may occur. It will be interesting to see how GIANTX shapes up for the upcoming season.
