Google has announced that it is currently experimenting with a new feature that suggests pages to users based on open tabs from other devices. Chrome already has tab syncing capabilities to pick up where users left off on different devices. This new feature aims to enhance the seamless transition between devices by suggesting relevant tabs.
Although Google hasn’t provided specific details on how this feature will look, the blog post mentions that it will proactively suggest pages on the Chrome New Tab page. Currently, this page displays quick links to most viewed websites and hand-picked shortcuts, making it a convenient location for these tab suggestions.
In addition to this, Google is updating tab group functionality across platforms. Users could previously save and sync tab groups to access them on other devices, but now Chrome will automatically sync these groups without requiring manual saving. This feature will be available on desktop, Android, and iOS devices.
Chrome is also introducing updates for commercial users, specifically those using Workspace. Users will now see an overview of their Google Calendar when opening a new tab, and they can access customized site shortcuts directly from the search bar. These features are rolling out and will be available to all managed users, including those not using Workspace.
Google is also implementing other administrator-specific features for enhanced security and clearer separation of work and personal data through work and personal profiles. Administrators can find more details in Google’s full blog post.
