Apple announced on Wednesday that its innovative AI technology will soon be accessible in more languages by 2025. The expanded Apple Intelligence will now include support for English (India), English (Singapore), German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Vietnamese, and several other languages yet to be unveiled.
The feature is set to debut in American English with the upcoming iOS 18.1 update. Apple had previously disclosed plans to introduce localized English support for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K. later in 2024, followed by Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish support in 2025.
Despite the exciting news, it is worth noting that Apple Intelligence will face challenges in two major markets upon launch. Due to regulatory constraints under the Digital Markets Act, the service will not be available on iPhones or iPads in the EU. Apple is in talks with the European Commission to address this issue and highlights that Apple Intelligence can currently be accessed in the EU through the macOS Sequoia 15.1 developer beta.
In China, Apple is navigating regulatory hurdles related to generative AI models, posing a significant obstacle for Apple Intelligence in this key market. The company is actively engaged in discussions to address these challenges and ensure the availability of Apple Intelligence in China.
