Following the Apple iPhone event, the focus now shifts to new Macs. A recent revelation in the macOS Sequoia update hints at a new Mac mini in the works. The update confirms earlier reports of a redesigned Mac mini with the M4 and M4 Pro chip. The new design is expected to be smaller, resembling an Apple TV set-top box, with the removal of USB-A ports to achieve a thinner profile.
Replacing the USB-A ports will be five USB-C ports, according to reports. This aligns with the discovery in macOS Sequoia mentioning an “Apple silicon Mac mini (5 Port).” While not an official announcement, finding this reference in Apple’s operating system lends credibility to the upcoming changes.
Rumors also suggest other updates to Apple’s desktop and laptop lineup, including a refresh of the MacBook Pro range. An entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip is expected, alongside two premium models – a 14-inch and a 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro and M4 Max chips respectively. Apple is also rumored to be working on a new iMac.
While details are yet to be officially confirmed by Apple, all signs point to a busy period for Mac enthusiasts. An event in October focusing on the Mac and iPad is expected, where more information may be revealed. Stay tuned for updates as we await further announcements.
