Even though you might think you now work for Meta or Instagram, there might be a new toggle labeled “(Meta-only) Internal post” when attempting to post from an iPhone today. However, toggling this option may result in your post not being published and instead showing an error in your feed.
These occurrences are not uncommon.
What you are likely witnessing is called “dogfooding,” where internal testing tools intended for developers and internal users accidentally surface in a production application. The app I am currently using is version 349.0.0 and was last updated a day ago, but features can also be surfaced server-side. Therefore, it is possible that this toggle switch may disappear as mysteriously as it appeared.
You will notice the toggle switch when you reach the screen to add a caption to a photo, located just above the section for tagging people or adding music.
