Following the buzz surrounding the $700 price tag of the PlayStation 5 Pro, Sony has introduced a new initiative selling certified refurbished PlayStation 5 consoles at discounted prices on its PlayStation Direct store.
The “PlayStation 5 Certified Refurbished” program offers consoles and DualSense controllers for less than their original launch prices. Various colors of the DualSense controller will be priced at $60, the standard PS5 at $400, and the PS5 Digital Edition at $350.
Although the discounts are not substantial compared to the original launch prices of $500 for the PS5 and $400 for the Digital Edition, every refurbished product undergoes a rigorous recertification process ensuring it meets the same standards as new PlayStation products. Additionally, each refurbished item comes with a one-year limited warranty for added peace of mind.
For consumers who were deterred by the high prices of new consoles in the market, the refurbished PS5 might be a viable option. With Sony recently increasing the prices of the PlayStation 5 consoles and DualSense controllers due to inflation rates, the refurbished PS5 offers a more economical choice, especially for those seeking a console with a disc drive.
Furthermore, Sony has also raised the price of DualSense controllers from $70 to $75 for the standard model, making the certified refurbished options even more attractive.
