Sony has officially announced the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro) after months of rumors. This upgrade to the PS5 series of consoles was revealed by Sony’s lead PlayStation architect, Mark Cerny, during a technical presentation on Sep. 10. The PS5 Pro, described as a mid-gen refresh, boasts a larger GPU, faster RAM, and a range of new features aimed at enhancing the performance of the PS5 for modern standards.
With features like AI upscaling with PSSR, targeting a consistent 60fps on all games, and significant visual improvements over the base PS5, the PS5 Pro is a notable step up. However, the price tag of $699, as confirmed by Sony, may cause some hesitation among consumers.
While the price may seem steep, it’s worth noting that a PC with similar specs could easily cost double the price of the PS5 Pro. Patient buyers may also be able to find deals, making the investment more affordable in the long run.

A blog post by PlayStation also revealed that numerous already released games will receive enhanced features on the PS5 Pro.
