Apple Intelligence may be the latest trend, but iOS 18 offers a plethora of features beyond that. Recently announced at the iPhone 16 “Glowtime” event on Monday, the new software update for iPhones is set to launch on September 16.
iOS 18 brings some significant aesthetic updates, such as the freedom to place icons anywhere on the home screens and create blank spaces. Additionally, users can customize the color and size of icons. Siri’s interface has also been updated to illuminate the edges of the iPhone instead of a glowing orb at the bottom.
The control center now features a multi-page layout where users can personalize and add controls, including support for third-party apps. Furthermore, the default flashlight and camera icons on the lock screen can be replaced.
The update introduces a dedicated passwords app and a redesigned Photos app, which simplifies the interface by adopting a single-page view. The Photos app showcases old photos through various carousels.
Language-related updates include a multilingual and multiscript keyboard, Hindi support in the translate app, and Arabic support in Live Text.
Enhancements in the call app allow users to search through call history and contacts, while the Messages app now permits scheduling messages for later.
If you own an iPhone XR or later, or an iPhone SE (second gen) or later, you are eligible for the iOS 18 update. Refer to the full list of compatible devices with iOS 18 support.
Stay tuned for an in-depth exploration of the iOS 18 update and its features later this month.
