Lenovo has introduced two new laptops in collaboration with Intel, featuring the latest Core Ultra Series 2 chips. However, it is the software offerings that set these laptops apart. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon and Yoga Slim 7i, part of the Aura Edition Imagined with Intel lineup, come with innovative software features developed jointly by Lenovo and Intel.
One of the standout features is Smart Share, enabling seamless photo sharing between your phone and laptop with a simple tap. By bumping your iPhone or Android phone against the laptop lid, a Smart Share window pops up, showing your mobile photos.
It is worth noting that this feature relies on Intel Unison, requiring both devices to have the corresponding app installed. Once set up, it offers a smooth experience for transferring photos between devices.
Another highlight of Aura Edition is Smart Modes, accessible via a dedicated key on the keyboard, offering four modes: Shield, Attention, Wellness, and Collaboration. While some modes like Shield turn on VPN and security features, others like Wellness remind you to take breaks. Smart Care is also included, providing access to video tutorials and tech support.
While the laptops themselves have not undergone major exterior changes, the Yoga Slim 7i now sports a larger 15-inch screen with a high refresh rate, maintaining a compact form factor compared to standard laptops. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 retains its lightweight design, while the Yoga Slim 7i offers a more modern appearance.
In a technology landscape with fierce competition, Lenovo’s collaboration with Intel sets these laptops apart by offering unique software features. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Edition is set to launch in November with an expected starting price of $2,000, while details on the pricing and release date of the Yoga Slim 7i are yet to be announced.
