The New York Times, renowned for games like Wordle and crossword puzzles, has introduced new features to its game Connections. This word game challenges players to find patterns among a group of 16 words or phrases, offering a blend of fun and difficulty. With the addition of a stats feature, players can now track their performance and see how they fare in the game.
The newspaper recently announced that Connections players can view their stats within the app, including details like puzzles completed, win rate, streaks, and more. This feature is accessible on iOS, Android, the New York Times news app, and the browser version.
To access these stats, players simply need to click on the stats icon in the toolbar, resembling a bar graph. This interface is similar to what is seen in other NYT Games apps, such as Wordle and Spelling Bee. Additionally, stats can be viewed upon completing a game.
The New York Times continues to enhance its Games app, introducing new games like Strands and community features. Updates to Wordle in May included the addition of archives and the launch of WordleBot in 2022. The app received a redesign in March, reflecting the publication’s commitment to keeping its games engaging and challenging.
According to Jonathan Knight, head of games at The New York Times, these new features aim to enhance gameplay enjoyment, maintain challenge levels, and foster long-term engagement with Connections.
