LoL Worlds 2024 Play-In Stage Draw Results
Following G2 Esports’ victory over Fnatic in the 2024 LEC Season Finals on September 1, Riot Games conducted the play-in draw show to determine the matchups for the upcoming play-in stage.
The play-in stage will feature 8 teams from minor regions, as well as the third seeds from the LEC and LCS, competing to secure four spots in the Swiss stage.
The VCS and PCS regions will each have two representatives in the play-in stage, while LLA and CBLOL will have one team each.
As per the format, the eight teams have been seeded into two double-elimination brackets. The top team from each bracket will advance directly to the Swiss stage, while the second team will be determined through a second qualification match.
In the matchups, MAD Lions will face VCS team Vikings Esports, PSG Talon will take on the CBLOL representative, GAM Esports will compete against Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS Gaming, and LLA team Rainbow 7 will challenge the third seed from the LCS. Each match will consist of Bo3 series.

My Thoughts on the LoL Worlds Play-In Brackets
While it’s still early to predict how each region will fare, there are some clear favorites emerging. PSG, having shown strong performances at MSI, is likely to be a frontrunner in this stage. Teams in the first bracket, including MAD Lions, will face tough competition. MDK’s form remains uncertain heading into the tournament.
In the second bracket, the LCS representative is expected to make a strong push for qualification. Alongside them, SHG from the PCS is on an upward trajectory, making them a team to watch. These teams will be ones to keep an eye on in the competition.
