The highly anticipated International 2023 (TI13) is just around the corner as all teams have arrived in Copenhagen, gearing up for the biggest tournament in the Dota 2 calendar. To kick off the event, Valve has sent out a welcoming letter to all teams, offering words of encouragement and advice on conduct and behavior.
Nouns Esports shared the TI13 welcome letter on social media, with Heroic translating it into Spanish, where it greets the teams and lays out guidelines and warnings regarding behavior.
Valve’s letter begins with a reflection on the exceptional skill of the TI13 players:
“In the last year, half a billion games of Dota have been played, representing players in almost every country. You are the elite, the highest-skill Dota players on the best teams in the world. Congratulations.”
After setting a tone of excitement, Valve moves on to issue warnings about the tournament. Emphasizing the importance of professionalism and upholding the integrity of the competition, Valve prohibits betting on matches, exploiting bugs, and engaging in discriminatory or abusive behavior.
Furthermore, Valve urges players to address any issues to them or event organizers directly, rather than resorting to social media or the press.
While the letter takes a more serious tone compared to traditional tournament welcome messages, Valve ensures all bases are covered with the TI13 welcome letter. The focus on avoiding exploits raises questions about the Midas bug and whether Valve will address it before the tournament begins.
