The Amazon Kindle series has always been a top player in the e-reader market, and it seems like it will continue to hold that position. However, new competitors are emerging, with the latest one being from a familiar name: Onyx.
The new 6-inch Boox Go 6 is based on Android 12 and comes with 32GB of storage. Priced at $150, it competes with the Kindle Paperwhite. One standout feature of the Boox Go 6 is its Carta 1300 screen, which utilizes the latest E Ink display technology. Onyx claims it provides better visual quality and performance, offering deeper blacks and brighter whites.
The Boox Go 6 is compatible with the NeoReader reading app, supporting up to 20 document formats. Users can highlight text, make annotations, adjust layout, and use TTS. The app has also been updated to include a light or dark mode feature.
Running on Android, the Boox Go 6 comes with the Google Play Store, giving readers access to their favorite apps for reading, web browsing, and audio listening, including the Amazon Kindle app.
While tablets like the iPad Pro offer a wide range of features, e-readers still have their place. It’s great to see companies like Onyx not only continuing to produce e-readers but also updating them with improvements in hardware and software.
We’ve had positive experiences with Onyx e-readers in the past, including the recently released Onyx Boox Palma and the 2023 Onyx Boox Tab Ultra C.
The Boox Go 6 is now available on the Onyx website, with the first shipments expected to arrive in mid-September.
