Recent news confirms that Lightneer, the Finnish games developer with significant backing, has officially closed its doors.
The company’s chairman and CEO, Henri Lindman, bid farewell on LinkedIn with a personal message and homemade image.

Lightneer previously attracted notable investors including Rovio’s ‘Mighty Eagle Peter’ Vesterbacka, Tom Kalinske, Ian Livingstone, Marcus du Sautoy, and Pasi Sahlberg.
The company raised a total of €3.5 million ($3.94 million) in investment by September 2016, with subsequent funding totaling $7.8 million for the global launch of their first game, Big Bang Legends.
However, challenges arose during the leadership transition from Lauri Jarvilehto to Mark Cochrane, prompting the cancellation of the game in 2018. Lightneer then pivoted to hypercasual games with Voodoo’s support.
In a final message, Lindman expressed gratitude to colleagues and investors, signaling a hopeful spirit for the future.
