Setting up a new phone is typically a standard process, but customizing it to reflect your style is where the real fun begins. Google is simplifying this customization experience with a revamped “Wallpaper & style” page for Pixel phones and tablets.
The updated wallpaper app was first uncovered by Android Authority in the Android 15 QPR1 beta, with a full release expected in December.
The current Wallpaper & style page has been around since Android 12, with some minor tweaks over time. The new version maintains similar functionality but enhances the user experience by making it easier to navigate and access all available options.
A video by Android Authority’s Mishaal Rahman showcases the changes in the new update. One notable change is the removal of tabs for switching between the home screen and lock screen; now, users can simply swipe between them.
The updated interface also provides a more streamlined process for selecting the functionality of shortcut keys on the home screen, changing themes, and managing notifications.
Rahman noted that while the UI is user-friendly, it is still a work in progress. Google may make further refinements before the public release of Android 15, but the current version offers a glimpse into what users can expect.
Although there is no official release date for this update, it is unlikely to be included in the initial stable release of Android 15. It is more probable that the base version of Android 15 will be launched first, with these aesthetic enhancements being introduced gradually afterward.
