The crossover between Dead by Daylight and Castlevania debuts today with exciting additions, introducing a new killer and survivor. One of the standout features is the introduction of shape-shifting abilities for the first time in the game.
The most attention-grabbing addition is the new killer, The Dark Lord (a.k.a. Dracula). He possesses the ability to transform into three forms. The first form is the normal vampire form, capable of throwing flames and navigating obstacles. The second is the wolf form, which excels in tracking survivors by detecting clues like scratch marks and scent orbs, allowing for faster movement. Lastly, the bat form lacks a terror radius, can teleport to nearby vault locations, and boasts exceptional perception with constant visibility of scratch marks and amplified footstep sound (though survivors remain invisible).
Mastering the strategy of switching between these forms requires skill and experience in Dead by Daylight but adds a refreshing twist to the roster of killers.
In addition, the new survivor, Trevor Belmont, comes with three new perks. Eyes of Belmont extends the duration of revealing the killer’s aura after completing a generator, likely becoming a popular choice among survivors. The other two perks, Exultation and Moment of Glory, offer unique benefits tied to specific gameplay actions and scenarios.
Both the killer and survivor receive new skins as part of this collaboration. Trevor gets multiple skins, including ones for Leon and Simon Belmont, while Dracula can don different outfits resembling his iterations from Dracula X and Castlevania Chronicles. Notably, there’s a skin that transforms him into Alucard from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, promising a novel experience according to the developers.
Further exciting content awaits players on September 12, with the introduction of Maria Renard and Sypha Belnades outfits for other characters in Dead by Daylight.
For fans of Castlevania who are not interested in Dead by Daylight, there’s still something to look forward to. Three Nintendo DS Castlevania titles are set to release on the Switch as part of the Castlevania Dominus Collection, as announced during Nintendo’s recent Partner Showcase. The collection includes Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia, and the arcade title Haunted Castle.
