Planera, a construction-tech startup offering scheduling and planning software for commercial construction projects, recently secured $13.5 million in funding.
Traditionally, general contractors rely on legacy software like Oracle Primavera P6 for managing construction projects. Despite the complexity and lack of user-friendly interfaces in these solutions, contractors use them due to the intricate nature of their projects. Planera aims to bridge this gap by providing a standalone software platform that simplifies scheduling and planning with a digital whiteboard-like interface, encouraging real-time collaborations.
Scheduling is vital in the construction industry due to contractual obligations and potential liquidated damages. Planera enables contractors to collaborate with other stakeholders and streamline project management within a single interface.
Nitin Bhandari, co-founder and CEO of Planera, highlighted that the platform serves as an effective communication tool for contractors. Planera allows contractors to sketch, analyze, optimize, and schedule construction plans in alignment with their contractual obligations. Additionally, it integrates with popular platforms like AutoDesk and Procore for seamless workflow.
Planera plans to extend its software to subcontractors to enhance collaboration with specialty workers. With an experienced founding team, including Bhandari, who previously co-founded successful ventures like Skyfire and ZenScreen, Planera has quickly gained traction in the construction industry.
The startup’s Series A round, led by Sierra Ventures, will be allocated towards sales and marketing efforts, product development, and integrating AI to enhance scheduling and planning efficiency.
Building on its current success, Planera is set to expand its workforce and offerings in the coming months, positioning itself as a valuable tool for the modernization of the construction industry.
