Are you holding onto a beloved jacket with a torn sleeve or a pair of worn-out shoes tucked away in your closet? Tingit, a startup from Lithuania, is here to help you revive your old clothing with its new repairs marketplace.
Using your phone, you can easily capture a video of your damaged items and upload it to receive a repair quote. If you accept the quote, you can make the payment through the Tingit app and send your items to the chosen repair shop. No more searching for repair specialists or dealing with inconvenient shop schedules – Tingit streamlines the entire process for you.
Currently available only in Lithuania, Tingit raised a pre-seed funding of €500,000 to expand its operations into other European markets. The platform connects owners of damaged clothing and fashion items with businesses that offer repair services, following the success of Lithuania’s fashion marketplace giant, Vinted.
The founder, Indrė Viltrakytė, aims to promote sustainability in fashion by addressing the industry’s issues with overconsumption. With experience in tech entrepreneurship and a passion for problem-solving, Viltrakytė envisions Tingit as a platform that simplifies and enhances the repair process for customers.
Tingit’s marketplace currently focuses on clothing, shoes, and accessories repair and restoration services, offered by local businesses in Lithuania. As the platform grows, it plans to explore expansion into other repair categories like sports goods and electronics.
In a push towards a circular economy and sustainable practices, Tingit has facilitated over 650 repairs and received 2,500 repair requests from its users. Shoe repairs are the most popular service on the platform, showcasing the demand for efficient repair solutions among consumers.
Looking ahead, Tingit plans to further integrate technology like AI to automate processes such as damage analysis and quote generation. The startup also sees potential in expanding to business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) models and establishing partnerships with leading fashion retailers.
With a vision to make repairs a habitual and sustainable practice, Tingit aims to increase the value of used clothing items and promote responsible consumer habits. Through innovation and collaboration, Tingit is poised to make a mark in the fashion repair industry and contribute to a more sustainable future.
