Midjourney CEO David Holz made an announcement via Discord on Wednesday that the AI image generator is now accessible to all users through their website, not just paying subscribers.
The text-to-image generator was first introduced in 2022 and initially hosted on a Discord server. Midjourney later launched a website last year with similar functionality, but it was limited to users who had generated at least 10,000 images through the Discord bot. Now, anyone can try out Midjourney by visiting their website, and sign up with either a Discord or Google account.
Although the image generator is available for free, users are granted a 25-image trial before needing to subscribe to one of Midjourney’s paid plans. The Basic plan starts at $10/month with 3.3 hours of GPU time and the ability to generate up to three images simultaneously. The pricing scales up to the Mega plan at $120/month, offering 60 hours of Fast GPU time, unlimited “Relax” GPU access, and the ability to process up to 15 images concurrently.
The Midjourney web experience is now open to everyone. We’re also temporarily turning on free trials to let you check it out. Have fun! pic.twitter.com/rcmP0UD8PV

This announcement follows shortly after Midjourney introduced its unified web editor in mid-August. The new editor simplifies the user interface, offering a more efficient way to navigate functions like expanding image canvases, adding assets, and manipulating elements.
