FireHydrant, a New York City incident management startup founded in 2019, recently announced its acquisition of Blameless, a former competitor. The details of the purchase price remain undisclosed.
Both FireHydrant and Blameless assist site reliability engineers (SREs) in maintaining the functionality of software and websites. They aid SRE teams in identifying and resolving issues that may arise, as well as conducting post-mortems to analyze the root cause and prevent similar incidents in the future.
FireHydrant’s founder and CEO, Robert Ross, highlights the company’s growth in expanding its incident management services, including incident detection, suppression, prevention, and the recent addition of Signals, a tool for incident alerts for IT personnel.
The acquisition of Blameless not only provides FireHydrant with additional functionalities but also brings in a list of enterprise customers such as CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, VMware, and Ticketmaster.
The integration of Blameless’ features, such as enterprise-grade integrations with companies like ServiceNow, and Microsoft Teams, was a significant factor in the decision to merge forces. The companies worked collaboratively to ensure a smooth transition for all stakeholders.
Blameless will operate as a stand-alone platform in the short term, with plans to fully integrate its functionalities into FireHydrant by the middle of next year. Blameless customers will gradually transition to become FireHydrant customers over the upcoming months.
Blameless, founded in 2017, raised $50 million in funding, while FireHydrant has raised over $30 million. Additional funding was secured during the acquisition of Blameless, ensuring a stable financial runway for the combined entity.
The deal has been finalized, with Blameless employees now part of the FireHydrant team. Board members from Accel and Third Point Ventures have also joined FireHydrant’s board of directors as part of the acquisition agreement.
