The opening ceremony of Gamescom 2024 last night showcased a plethora of announcements, game trailers, and reveals across various platforms. However, mobile games had a noticeably subdued presence during Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live.
While the mobile games that did make an appearance were predominantly cross-platform, some notable titles like Monument Valley 3 by ustwo Games garnered attention due to the backing of powerhouse brands like Netflix. Monument Valley 3, the latest installment in the popular series, will skip traditional premium pricing and head directly to Netflix’s gaming service.
Other highlights from the mobile segment included Squid Game Unleashed, a multiplayer action game inspired by the hit Korean series and Darker and Darker Mobile, a forthcoming release from Krafton that generated excitement with a captivating trailer and pre-registration details across multiple app stores.
Infinity Nikki also made waves with its trailer at the event, as the fifth installment in the franchise gears up for a multi-platform launch on PlayStation, PC, and mobile platforms.
Rounding out the mobile showcase at Gamescom 2024 was HoYoverse, which stole the spotlight with updates on popular games like Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero. Genshin Impact, in particular, teased a massive expansion coming in November that will transport players to the enchanting land of Natlan.
With HoYoverse maintaining its presence at Gamescom and mobile games making a mark despite limited screen time, the future looks bright for mobile gaming enthusiasts eager for more exciting announcements and reveals.
