Monterey Car Week has long been associated with historic vehicles, champagne, and fashion. However, this year saw a shift with the addition of EVs, tech-centric vehicles, startups, and an influx of Silicon Valley’s software developers and founders.
The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, known for featuring pre-war and interwar vehicles, took a modern twist this year by highlighting Wedge-style cars from the 1950s to 2023. One standout was a 1970 Lancia Stratos HF Zero Bertone Coupe owned by Phillip Sarofim, which made it to the top three finishers for best in show, ultimately won by a 1934 Bugatti Type 59 Sports.
The event drew a diverse crowd, including collectors, social media influencers, and young car enthusiasts. Heritage brands and startups gained attention with rare and high-end vehicles.
This year’s events saw a larger and younger crowd, with tech founders making appearances and engaging in festivities. EVs also played a more prominent role, with Kindred Motorworks unveiling an electric Bronco and Everatti showcasing electrified classic vehicles.
