The ESL FACEIT Group (EFG) has announced a partnership with the Esports World Cup to continue operating the annual multi-game esports tournament. This multi-year partnership will involve EFG handling the delivery and production of the tournament.
Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, expressed his excitement about the partnership, praising EFG’s operational excellence and industry experience. The partnership will allow for the expansion of Esports World Cup programming and contribute to the growth of the esports industry.
The Esports World Cup 2024 is currently underway in Boulevard City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, featuring 22 game championships with a record-breaking $60 million prize pool. The tournament is the largest in esports history for a single event. The partnership with EFG confirms that the Esports World Cup will continue in the years to come.
Supported by the Saudi government, the Esports World Cup is backed by the Saudi government’s Public Investment Fund, which owns Savvy Games Group. This holding company acquired ESL and FACEIT in 2022 to form the EFG.
In addition to operating the tournament, EFG will integrate Esports World Cup titles into the ESL, DreamHack, and FACEIT platforms. This integration follows the hosting of qualifiers for the Esports World Cup 2024, encompassing tournaments aligned with official esports roadmaps and third-party events.
Games like MLBB MSC Cup, PUBG Mobile World Cup, and Honor of Kings Midseason Cup are officially backed by publishers, with teams qualifying through regional publisher-led esports events. Other games such as League of Legends, Fortnite, and Apex Legends are part of third-party events within the Esports World Cup 2024, where EFG conducts regional EWC Qualifiers or seeds participants from events like Dreamhack.
