The Samsung Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 are rumored to receive some of the Galaxy AI features currently available on more expensive Samsung phones through an upcoming software update. This speculation follows Samsung’s president of mobile experience, TM Roh, announcing that Galaxy AI will be accessible on 200 million Galaxy devices by 2024.
According to sources speaking to Sam Mobile, the Galaxy AI features could be integrated into the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 via the upcoming One UI 6.1.1 software update. However, it is possible that not all AI features found on premium Samsung devices like the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be included in the update, potentially due to technical or marketing considerations.
The Galaxy AI suite includes various tools such as note summaries, translation and interpretation tools, Google’s Circle to Search, AI wallpaper, editing and message text suggestions, and generative AI tools like Instant Slo-Mo for videos. Some features require network access to Samsung’s servers, while others can run solely on the device. The availability of these features on the latest A-Series phones remains unclear.
The exact timeline for the software update introducing Galaxy AI features is unknown. The Galaxy A55 was launched with One UI 6.1 and Android 14, with Samsung committing to providing four years of major updates and five years of security updates. The latest Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 already have version 6.1.1 of One UI with Galaxy AI features.
Samsung is emphasizing its Galaxy AI features as a key selling point, as seen in its recent Galaxy Unpacked event. If Samsung extends its AI tools to more affordable phones, it will enhance its competitiveness against brands like Oppo and Google, both of which are focusing on integrating AI features into their lower-cost devices. Brands must prioritize including desirable software features on budget-friendly devices, as illustrated by Google’s need to backtrack after omitting its Gemini Nano assistant from the Pixel 8 post-launch.
