Just two days before the start of the event, 3DMAX has replaced BetBoom Team at IEM Cologne 2024. BetBoom Team was unable to secure visas for its players for the tournament in Germany, as confirmed by ESL.
3DMAX Steps in for BetBoom Team

3DMAX has been named as the replacement team according to the Team Replacement Rules in the ESL Pro Tour rulebook. They will take BetBoom Team’s place in the Play-In stage and will face 9z Team on August 7th to start their journey at the tournament.
3DMAX is a strong replacement with recent success at the Skyesports Championship 2024, where they won their first LAN event by defeating The MongolZ. While winning IEM Cologne 2024 may be a long shot for them, they are sure to bring excitement to the competition. This is their opportunity to showcase their skills once again, and it’s unfortunate they weren’t initially invited.
Visa Issues in Cologne
Visa problems are not limited to BetBoom Team at IEM Cologne. degster from Heroic has also failed to obtain his visa, leading to his absence from the tournament. Heroic will be substituting him with Woro2k, a capable stand-in for the team.
This is a recurring issue for Russian players in the CS2 scene, with Team Spirit facing similar visa challenges earlier this year. The difficulties in obtaining visas are affecting some of the most talented players in the scene, and it’s disappointing to see these circumstances impacting competitive play.
