Nvidia is reportedly discontinuing the RTX 3060, considered one of the best graphics cards released in recent years. The GPU, now over three years old, has reached its last order from Nvidia to its board partners.
The notice was shared on Board Channels, a forum where board partners discuss movements in companies like Nvidia and AMD. While Nvidia hasn’t officially confirmed the discontinuation, it aligns with the card’s initial release in February 2021 and potential decline in sales compared to newer models like the RTX 4060 and Intel Arc A750.
The RTX 3060 remains the top GPU on Steam, appearing in 5.71% of gaming PCs per the latest Steam hardware survey. Although newer models are gaining ground, like Nvidia’s RTX 4060 at 3.36%, retail availability of the RTX 3060 will persist for several months as board partners fulfill remaining orders.

As the RTX 3060 phases out, Nvidia is anticipated to introduce the RTX 5060, with rumors suggesting a later launch this year. While the RTX 3060 remains popular, it may not be the best investment in 2024 given its price. At around $300, alternatives like the RTX 4060 and AMD’s RX 7600 may offer better value.
