The newest VALORANT map, Abyss, has been out for a couple of weeks now, and players are already beginning to master the best Killjoy setups and understand why she ranks near the top of the VALORANT agent tier list. In this article, we will delve into the top lineups and strategies for Killjoy on the map Abyss.
Killjoy setups for defense on Abyss
Defense is where Killjoy excels in VALORANT. Her kit is designed to prevent enemies from freely taking space with her Turret and Swarm Grenades. This is particularly effective on Abyss, a map with tight entry points for both sites, making Killjoy an ideal agent to choose for this map.
A site
When it comes to the A site, having Killjoy or another Sentinel agent is essential for success, especially in Episode 9. By strategically placing Swarm Grenades at the left and right access points to the site, you can force enemies to either retreat or push through your utility, often leading to their demise.
Another effective tactic is placing a Swarm Grenade on top of the box to the left of the entrance, positioned at head level. Since this is a common spot for offensive players to check, this placement can catch them off guard and cause chaos for the enemy team.
When defending the A site, you have two solid options for your turret. Placing it in the middle provides coverage and alerts your team to any lurking enemies in that area. Alternatively, placing the turret on the site itself adds an extra layer of protection, forcing enemies to deal with it before advancing.
B Site
For the B site, set up your utility with a Swarm Grenade and Alarm Bot on the ramp, along with another Swarm Grenade at the start of the drop area. This setup allows you to surprise enemies when they trigger your utility, giving your team time to rotate and provide backup. Placing a grenade in the drop area also hinders enemy movement, slowing them down or causing damage.
Position your turret in the B link to cover flanks from mid-bottom, as there aren’t many optimal turret locations on the B side. Killjoy’s turrets are most effective when placed in challenging positions that are hard to destroy.
Offense with Killjoy
Attacking on Abyss can be challenging for Killjoy players. A tower and B short offer the best post-plant spots on the map. For B site, plant the Spike on the left side and surround it with grenades and alarm bots to secure the area and make it easier for your team to eliminate enemies.
At A tower, take advantage of the high ground by planting the Spike either in the corner of the boxes or out in the open on the bridge. This positioning forces enemies to aim up while giving you a clear line of sight for defending the planted Spike.
