Google is not slowing down with Gemini anytime soon. Following the announcement of new extensions during Google I/O 2024, an APK teardown by Android Authority has revealed a plethora of unannounced features coming to Gemini on your Android phone. These new extensions will integrate with Google services like Keep, Tasks, and Calendar.
Each extension offers useful features, as demonstrated in videos by Android Authority. With Google Keep, you can now ask Gemini to create notes, lists, add information, and manage items. Google Tasks integration allows creating new tasks, setting reminders, and viewing existing tasks with due dates. The Google Calendar extension enables creating events, viewing upcoming and specific date events, and editing existing events.
These extensions will complement existing ones for Google Flights, Google Hotels, Maps, Workspace, YouTube, and YouTube Music. Additionally, Google Home will have an extension for controlling smart home appliances. Gemini can now be set as the default voice assistant, with improvements to cut down middleman interactions for faster responsiveness.
Other upcoming extensions include one for the phone app, utilities for direct interaction with phone settings and apps, and Google Assistant to handle phone calls. The utilities extension may offer features like voice-controlled locking, switching to dark mode, and more, enhancing hands-free functionality.
